I ordered a filter kit from Amazon on Wednesday night, and paid for 1 day delivery. I missed the shipping cutoff time for a Thursday delivery, so the kit was scheduled to arrive on Friday.
On Friday, the kit hadn’t shipped yet, and same-day delivery is a pipe dream in rural Montana, so I contacted Amazon via chat. They apologized, refunded my 1-day shipping charges, and promised to ship the item that day.
I got a shipping notification later in the day–the filter kit would arrive on Monday. I had hoped to have it for a weekend shoot, but shit happens, and it’s the first time Amazon has missed a delivery to me in at least a year or two, so it wasn’t a huge deal.
On Monday, UPS delivered my kit. Except what was in the package wasn’t a filter kit. It was an odd lens bag.
Back to chatting with an Amazon rep. They again apologized, and refunded my money. The lens bag was a low cost item, so they suggested I keep/donate it instead of shipping it back.
Long story short, I didn’t get my filter kit. But I am impressed with Amazon’s customer service. The only drawback I’ve found is that I have to Google “Amazon contact us” if I want to find the link to contact them via chat. I’ve never been able to just find the link on the Amazon site without Googling.
